Cinema Sound Off

Welcome to Cinema Sound Off!

My good friend,KM Wilsher, and I are heading out to Harkins Theatres each month to watch a choice movie.

We’ll let you know if it’s worth you spending your hard-earned money or not.

~~~~~
Today we’re reviewing Iron Man 2.
From IMBD, here’s a little blurb about the movie:
Billionaire Tony Stark must contend with deadly issues involving the government, his own friends, as well as new enemies due to his superhero alter ego Iron Man.
~~~~

Deadly issues–I would say so. Before I get into the “review” I’d just like to say, I went in with HIGH expectations for this movie. I mean, the first one was amazing, tough to top that.

But, they did.

I liked this one even better than the first.

Probably because they showed more of the character. I was worried, though, because in the first few minutes Tony Stark came off more cocky and narcissisticthan usual. I mean, I can only take sooo much of that before it gets a bit annoying.

I even leaned over to my friend, KM Wilsher, and said, “Hmmm, God has a way of humbling people when they’re that cocky.”

And I wasn’t wrong.

But, of course, I won’t get into those details. . . you must see it to find out.

I felt like there was more plot to this one and it took me deeper and deeper into Tony Stark’s life. I liked that. Made me really connect with him. That’s important to me both in the movies I see and the books I read.

Although I liked Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper (love that name). . . I did find it seriously annoying that, more than once in the movie, she was sissy- screaming.

Seriously, it was the clueless-damsel-in-distress-type sissy-screaming!

I can’t stand that. I like it when the chicks can kick some serious butt.

Having said all that–it didn’t detract from the overall movie enough to keep me from givingit our highest rating: FIVE movie tickets:

5 tickets: A must see. Buy a ticket for everyone.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

    Sissy screaming! That’s exactly right. She was too whiny in my book. As for RDJ – I’m glad we got to see some more of his character, and it felt like some of the dialogue was ad lib, but I could have done with less explosions and more Stark.
    Did you stay through all the credits? They set up the next movie.

    Saw it. Loved it. Recommend it. An admirable sequel. Mickey Rourke was a GREAT bad guy, always is. He fit in well here, I think.
    And never fear, #3 is on its way. As is The Avengers (Nick Fury/Sam L Jackson).
    Glad you liked the movie, Lynn! Have a great day!

    I went to see this with my hubby on Saturday night, and I have to say I agree! I went in with very high expectations (the original Iron Man is in my top 10 favorite movies) and other than the change of actors with Rhodey, I wasn’t disappointed.

    On the Pepper thing, I think she’s designed to be an opposite to both Natalie/Natasha and Tony. She *did* take charge at the end, and that was admirable for her character.

    My favorite line–and there were a lot of great one & two liners–was at the end from Senator Stern. I’m hoping they make a 3rd one… we’ll have to see!

    I’m leaving a comment , even though I’m not reading the post. I think this is a great addition to your blog, but I’m avoiding all things Ironman until I see the movie :). I want no spoilers! I loved the first one SO much!

    Great review. Her screaming really bothered you, huh? That may be why they had to bring in Scarlett as a butt kicking female, because Pepper is the brains :0)

    Oh, quote!

    My fav: Tony sees Scarlett “I wan’t one.”
    Pepper immediatly says, “No.”

    LOL
