Cinema Sound Off

My good friend, KM Wilsher, and I are heading out to Harkins Theatres each month to watch a choice movie.

We’ll let you know if it’s worth you spending your hard-earned money or not.

Okay, this week we didn’t venture into the movie theaters. Instead, we watched Shutter Island. Have you seen it?

IMDB summary of the movie:

Drama set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.

My Review:

Wow. I watched this one a while ago and when I started thinking about it again for review here, I have to admit that it was well done. It’s still not one I’d run out and buy to watch over and over again, which is how I kind of “unofficially” rate my movies (Buyable or not. .  .)

I’m not a fan of the campy 1950’s, funky accent, detective stuff, but it really was done well. Great acting. Great suspense. Wicked-strong premise. Gotta give credit where credit is due. It was nicely done.

At the end, it left me wondering, guessing, as to what really happened, which is okay. Not my favorite, but it led to some fun discussions.

I give it THREE MOVIE TICKETS:

Did you guys see it? What do you think really happened, considering how they left it at the end?

Here’s the trailer if you wanna see it:

This was on my TBW list. That woman freaks me out. LOL I think I’ll put it on my Netflix list. Thanks for the review.

  2. On the Netflix queue it goes! I hear the book was good too.

  3. KM Wilsher says:

Oh, I am surprised. I thought you’d give it a higher rating 🙂 I guess 3 tickets is pretty good tho!

The ending was a little vague, but I guess you can choose what you think happened next!

I loved it LOL. Kept my attention the entire film.

Yeah, the ending does leave a lot to “decide” doesn’t it? I got bored during the movie a few times. . . Moved too slow for me. But then again, I’m an action flick kinda girl! LOL

  4. I didn’t see this one, though I was a little interested at the trailers. I have no doubt it was well-done with the team-up of actors/director. DiCaprio has never been my favorite, but he usually puts in a stunning performance. Inception, for instance. GREAT movie. Anyway, glad you and KM are having fun doing Cinema Soundoff! Miss you gals!

    • Lynn Rush says:

DiCaprio hasn’t been my favorite, either, but you’re right, he’s a good actor. I haven’t seen Inception. . . my hubby has and told me it was good, but confusing. 🙂

  5. I haven’t seen it, and I’m not sure it’s really up my alley. I can’t watch things that scare me–I dream about them for too long.
