Now…onto the movie.

This week we opted to watch a DVD, and we chose RED.
Synopsis from IMDB:
Frank (Bruce Willis) is retired, bored and lonely living off his government pension in a nondescript suburb in an equally nondescript house. The only joy in Frank’s life are his calls to the government pension processing center when he gets to talk to his case worker Sarah (Mary-Louis Parker). Sarah is as bored and lonely as Frank and marks her conversations with the unknown Frank and her spy novels as the only things fun in her life. When something in Frank’s past forces Frank back into his old line of work and puts an unwitting Sarah in the middle of the intrigue, Frank and Sarah begin a journey into Franks past and the people he used to work with. Like Frank they are all RED … Retired Extremely Dangerous
My review:
Well…although the special effects were good, and there was a lot of kick butt action, which I usually am quite a sucker for, this movie flopped for me.
The characters seemed over the top weird. Bruce Willis did a good job. Stoic, flat affect…I totally bought that he was bored. But gosh I couldn’t stand the character, Sarah. I literally wanted plug my ears and sing La-La-La-La-La so I couldn’t hear her talk.
Okay, that was overly dramatic. Sorry.
I just couldn’t connect with this movie. It wasn’t horrible, just not one I plan on buying or ever watching again.

Although, I’m a Bruce fan. I’ll wait for it to come to DVD. I still don’t even know what it’s called based on the movie cover. LOL

Thanks for stoppin’ by, Lori. That’s a good summary: Liked but didn’t love.
Lindsay
I’m a big Bruce Willis fan
Lynn Rush
I like him too, for the most part. He did “okay” in this movie. 🙂
Lori Lundquist
Saw it. LIked but didn’t love it. Totally agree with Chris, thought John M. was awesome. And I agree with Rebecca, everyone should go see Soul Surfer! Happy Tuesday!
Rebecca
you NEED NEED NEED to go see Soul Surfer! it’s incredible! Don’t wait a month! go see it soon!! I want to see it again and buy it. Bethany Hamilton is an amazing and inspiring young woman!
Lynn Rush
Soul Surfer does look really good, Rebecca! 😉
Chris
I loved this movie! Sure it was somewhat unrealistic but John Malkovich was awesome. I’d watch it again.

John did do a good job acting that crazy character, didn’t he? It was almost too out there for me, though. But man, that guy can act pretty much ANY part you throw at him, can’t he?
Lindsay
Oh, good. A not so good review of the movie. From the trailers I saw on TV it sounded interesting and now I’m sure it is. Seems that every time I read a bad review of a movie I want to see I like the movie. And the opposite is true about movies that get good reviews. Hate’em.
Lynn Rush
LOL. That’s funny. Okay, when you see it, come back and let me know if you liked it, okay? 🙂
Jillian Chantal
I liked it. I DID have to suspend my belief system to get into it. I thought it was fun. The part they said was Pensacola was totally NOT- It was a swamp in Louisiana. I KNOW it!!
Lynn Rush
Yep, there was definitely the plausible deniability factor on this one, huh? LOL. 🙂

When this movie first came out it didn’t get my attention so that I would run out and see it. I have yet to see it and don’t think I will be watching it.
Lynn Rush
I vaguely remember this one out in theaters to tell you the truth…. 🙂
KM Wilsher
Wow! We disagree! :0) That hasn’t happened in a while. I really enjoyed the movie. . .come on over an read what I had to say! Lynn, you are the best!
Lynn Rush
I’m headed over to your blog. 🙂

Haven’t seen it…probably won’t, LOL!
I like John Malkovich though. And Helen Mirren wielding a machine gun? Cool. 😉
Lynn Rush
John did a good job. I didn’t enjoy his character, though. Too off the wall. Oh yeah, Helen Mirren with a machine gun, that worked!

This is one of the few movies I wanted to see because it looked like it was right up my alley with weirdness. Hm. Might have to rethink that. Thanks for the review!
Lynn Rush
Well, renting it on DVD wouldn’t put you out too much. I’m glad I didn’t see it in the theater, though
Rachel Firasek
This doesn’t look like something I’d watch anyways, but good to know it fell flat. Now, I really won’t waste my time. Have a great day!
Lynn Rush
🙂 Opinions can vary, for sure. But it wasn’t my fave.
