Did I Notice Your Book

Thanks, Ciara Knight for this fun blog fest. I love the Did I Notice Your Book segment on her blog, so it’s fun to participate.

So, I’m doing the New Adult age range of novels and look what fun one I found…

Ward Against Death, by Melanie Card.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job bring a nobleman s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can t be a surgeon the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying so bringing people back from the dead it is.

But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her.

However, nothing is as it seems including Celia. One second, she s treating Ward like sewage, the next she s kissing him. And for a nobleman s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive…

Okay, first of all, this cover is intriguing. Love the dark colors, mysterious-looking colors and that HUGE moon in the background. It makes me want to pick up the book and check it out.

Then I read the synopsis and it drew me in a little more! Have you guys read it? What’d you think?

Spread the word, let’s see if Melanie Card finds us here.

  1. No kidding about the cover being great. That one is top notch. Never, ever heard of the genre before, makes sense I suppose. And I’m glad the author found their book. Very cool.

    • Melanie – Thanks so much for taking the time to follow up with us. How did you find the post? All the followers over at my blog always want to know that. 🙂 Congratulations on being NOTICED.

Lynn – Yah! She found her book!! Woot!!!

  2. Until I started hanging out with you and Ciara, I hadn’t read YA. Now I’m hooked. Looks like another must buy. I’m telling you, this DINYB blog is killing my budget. LOL

  3. I think you’ve struck a winner here. I love both the cover and the blurb. Is that what they’re calling the twentysomething grouping now – New Adult? I’m going to have to get this one.

    • Thanks, Laura. 🙂 Yep. New Adult. We’re taking the publishing world by storm. LOL! If you think about it. There never really has been something for the over 18 crowd that wasn’t the steamy adult romances. So, this is a nice in between. Not YA issues, yet not the heavy stuff of an adult world yet. 🙂 I LOVE this age group!

    • Oh, we’re just getting started. This is all default. Web guy is uploading all the changes. They should come through some time today. Yay!!! Super excited!

  4. I’m so glad you are participating in the blog hop, Lynn. Wow, LOVE the cover. Great choice. This is my kind of read. 🙂 I’ll stop back by later to see if Melanie finds her book. This is so exciting. 🙂 Off to Tweet.
