Eggs…they’re good to eat and easy to cook……or are they?

Friday Funnies is a chance to share your wild and crazy stories. Whether it’s a personal story or just something that strikes you as funny. Let’s laugh and have some fun, but keep it clean, cuz I’m a watchin’ **wink wink**

Eggs, they’re scrumptious, right?

They make a great subject for books, right?

Oh, and don’t forget they’re fun to draw on too….(Ok, had to throw this one in there, I mean who draws on eggs??? LOL)

Yeah, well not for me.

One night I was preparing dinner for me and my sweet hubby. Now, he and I both know that the kitchen is not a place in which I excel…but hey, I tried.

I was making this killer salad. Grilled chicken, chopped up veggies, lettuce, hard boiled egg slices, the whole gamut, right? Easy enough, right?

**NOT**

The eggs kept exploding in the boiling water. I couldn’t figure it out. I mean, I’d done everything right…..

1. Brought the water to a complete boil

2. Put the egg in

3. Let it cook a few minutes

…it just wasn’t working…

WELL DAHHHHH, you have to bring the water to a boil WITH the egg in it….LOL

Any funny cooking stories to share? Come on, help me out, I’m not the only one who’s done something crazy like this, or am I?

Lynn, I always had trouble peeling my boiled eggs (starting them in cold water), so I’ve been dropping them into boiling water and they peel easier! But you can’t drop them in. (yes, I found out the hard way with stringy egg floating out of he cracks) . You have to set them in gently on a spoon. 🙂

My worst kitchen story in recent years was that I ruined instant mashed potatoes. My kids made so much fun of me over that one! LOL

OH, and I also tried reducing balsamic vinegar to use as a sauce. I reduced it a little too much. It was like glue in the pan! 🙂

Hi, followed you here from Facebook.

My son is allergic to eggs. He’s 18 now and the allergy isn’t as bad, but when he was in elementary school, I think it was grade 1, the class was hatching baby chicks. One day he comes upstairs from the toy room in the basement, and I see he has a rash on his face. Omigod, what’s that from? LOL, turned out he took an egg downstairs and tried sitting on it to see if it would hatch. 🙂 Then, with the egg on his finger, he scratched his face.

    It was pretty funny.

Alison–Oh my gosh, that was funny! Pretty witty three year old!
Sarah–Oh, you gotta share a story, don’t leave me hangin’ THANKS for the award.
Billy–Yeah, wasn’t sharp enough to grab my camera…grrrr
    Gzusfree–OMG, that’s funny. I hate that smell…and yes, it’s because I’ve caused that burning smell cooking…surprising, I know.
Kat–HA! I found some You Tubes on exploding eggs in the microwave. **smile**

When I was little Grandma came and babysat one night. It was so fun! We were to do dinner and a movie. When we got home, we realized we never had the dinner it was still on the stove. Black smoke in the air, crazy smell, a black pan. . .I never looked at SpagettiOs the same way again . . .We lived with that smell for days LOL
    Happy Friday!

Any time I try to cook, ends up being a funny story. I’m a terrible chef!

Off topic, I gave you an award! Come visit my blog for details.

It’s not a cooking story (though I have loads of examples!) but an egg story. It’ll show how a twisted sense of humor runs in our family. =)

Recently my sister-in-law was reading “Humpty Dumpty” to my three-year-old niece. They came to the end…”and all the king’s horses and all the king’s men could put Humpty together again.”

My niece thought for a moment and responded, “Why didn’t they just have breakfast?”
