Inspiration

I have quite a few things that inspire me–and not just inspiring me to write either. Sure, I have a lot of those, and I mention them weekly in my This Writer’s Journey segments.

But, today, I’m mentioning someone who inspires me on a whole different level. Someone who inspires me to be a better person. A better wife. A better athlete. And yes, even a better writer.

My husband, Charlie.

Here are a couple pictures of a triathlon he did recently.

He works so hard at his sport. Without fail, he trains daily. He watches what he eats–and boy do I wish I had the dedication he does. The way that man can turn away chocolate when it’s readily available is unnatural!

I joke, but truly, he inspires me. He shows me by example what it means to be dedicated to something. To work hard for it. Earn it. Yet, he’s quick to smile and give God the credit for any success he has. He’s right, too. God has truly blessed him with a strong mind, heart and soul.

And a triathlete training for the full Ironman needs that. To make it in a 2-mile swim, 110+ mile bike ride, and 26-mile run—YIKES!

So, I thank you, Charlie, for being such a good example to me and those around you. I’m blessed to call you husband.

Who inspires you?

Awwww!!! What a sweet blog!!! πŸ™‚

I’m always inspired by my grandmother and my Mom. Both women have always gone after what they wanted and worked hard and learned until they achieved their goals. I try to folow in their footsteps and when the going gets rough, my hubby is always there to dust me off and help me back into the race again… I feel very blessed! πŸ™‚

    Great blog Lynn!!!

Lynn, I think it’s great that you can be inspired by your hubs. It’s wonderful when you find that soulmate that completely completes your life. You need people like that in this world. Kudos to Charlie!

Great post. I have always admired triatheletes. When is Charlie doing the Ironman? I watch those on TV, in awe. And i love your tribute to him.

I’m inspired by lots of people: my parents who’ve overcome a lot of adversity in the last 10 years, my sister for coming out the other side so strong and my hubby for always being so calm, so laidback and so positive that it makes me remember to not sweat the small stuff.

Charlie is lucky to have you also, Lynn. Great tribute to a wonderful man! My parents inspire me, they are the greatest people I know. πŸ™‚

I guess I’d have to say my mother. Sure, there are a few singers who’ve insppired me but none like ‘Mom’. She was always there for me. Encouraging me to be the best I could be. To follow my dream. Guess that’s why I always write from the woman’s POV. Sort of in respect of and for her.

I gotta say that I love this post! I knew Charlie back in high school, and even though he was a couple years younger, that same dedication and will was evident then. That was a tough time for me and my family – Charlie was more inspirational in getting me through that than he can ever realize just by being a strong friend who never ever succumbed to the peer pressure to shun me – just continued to treat me the same and be a friend. His parents were the same kind of rocks for my parents – so his parents get some credit for his character. I pray often for people going through tough times to have someone like Charlie in their lives – and I try to be that kind of person myself. I am so glad he has you – someone who loves and appreciates who he is – you are pretty awesome yourself, and I’ve never even met you!!! πŸ™‚ God Bless You!
