So, I’m hearing good things about this movie:
Have you seen it? Please, do tell….
Yes, and I thought it was awesome! Great throwback to the Golden Age of science fiction.
I remember your review on your site. I’m leaning toward seeing it!!! 🙂
I have no idea what happened in that movie, plot-wise, but I didn’t care. It was Taylor Kitsch. Without a shirt. I was in heaven for 2+ hours. 🙂
LOL, Kendall! 🙂
I thought it was a cool movie. The special effects are awesome.
Those special effects DO look awesome! That’s the draw for me right now. 🙂
Um, I personally think the concept is a little far-fetched, but like Kendall said, hot guy without a shirt? I’m in!!!! 😉
Yeah, I’m questioning the story…… 🙂
Haven’t seen it, but the word I heard was it is a GOOD movie that suffered a marketing fail. Whatever that means. I only get to about 3 movies a year (next slated is Hunger Games) so I won’t end up seeing it until Netflix has it…
Yeah, what was up with the marketing fail? I mean, I’ve heard about it, saw the teasers and trailers, wonder where the #fail came in. 🙂
Ohhh, Hunger Games. I’ve not read the books….movie looks pretty good. So, we’ll see if it can live up to the hype.
Not normally my thing, but my husband wanted to see it. I really enjoyed it! It was a fun movie.
I had a great time watching this film. The story differs substantially from the original novel, A Princess of Mars. But it is very much in the spirit of Burroughs. The characters are interesting, there is plenty of action, the special effects are stunning, the acting is good, and the plot holds together much better than any of the last few Star Trek films. John Carter is a good, solid sword-and-planet film.
The problem lies in the marketing. Few outside of science fiction fandom have heard of John Carter. The trailers should have described the story more clearly and mentioned that it was based on a novel by the creator of Tarzan.
