Musical Mondays is about our favorite music. What’s your favorite song? If you’re a writer, does it inspire your creativity? Cure writer’s block? If you’re not a writer, what do your favorite songs do for you?

UNTIL THE END OF TIME, by Foreigner

This song holds significant meaning for me. I’m not a huge fan of the video, that’s why it’s not posted here, but the words are what counts in my book.

When my sweet hubby and I got married, he picked out all the music, even provided most of the CDs to the DJs. He’s big into music and music trivia. I think I’ve seen him stumped twice in our 12.5 years of marriage when I’ve asked him “Who sings this?” or “What year was this song from?”

He’s the man to have on your team in a music trivia contest, that’s for sure. Oh yeah, and he sang in high school and even got to sing at the national monument once with his quartet.

So, when he picked this song as our first song to dance to, I was intriqued. I’m all like, “It’s a rock band?” But oh, when I heard/read the lyrics….It grabbed my by the heart.

I disregarded the video’s interpretation of the song and clung to these words:

Never will I lose this heart’s desire. Ever will I feel our love’s fire. And when I see the light of love shine in your eyes when they meet mine, only then I’ll know it’s you and I until the end of time.

How amazing is that?

Hey thank you for sharing your songs today, everyone. Awesome lyrics. It’s amazing how God talks to us through songs, isn’t it? Faith Hill has a fantastic voice, doesn’t she? I haven’t heard the song A Baby Changes Everything…I’ll go check it out.

Hi Lynn…I’m too tired to look up the lyrics, but on the way home I heard an amazing Christmas song: “A Baby Changes Everything” by Faith Hill. I’m not a huge fan of hers, but her voice is wonderful and the song just grabbed me by the throat. In a good way, of course. 🙂

    Wow, great songs, all!

I love that Until the End of Time, Lynn! Of course, I’m a rock-ballad fan!

At our wedding, instead of having someone sing a special song, my hubby and I (who are both pretty musical) sang to each other.

“I Will Be Here,” by Steven Curtis Chapman.

    It was really cool!

    How about this one:

As I Turn Up The Collar On My
    Favourite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin’ My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
    With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
    Pretending Not To See
    Their Needs
    A Summer’s Disregard,
    A Broken Bottle Top
    And A One Man’s Soul
    They Follow Each Other On
    The Wind Ya’ Know
    ‘Cause They Got Nowhere
    To Go
That’s Why I Want You To
    Know

I’m Starting With The Man In
    The Mirror
    I’m Asking Him To Change
    His Ways
    And No Message Could Have
    Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
    A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
    Then Make A Change

This band is full of surprises.

    “Dear God” by Avenged Sevenfold

A lonely road, crossed another cold state line
Miles away from those I love
    Purpose hard to find
While I recall all the words you spoke to me
Can’t help but wish that I was there
Back where I’d love to be, oh yeah

Dear God the only thing I ask of you
Is to hold her when I’m not around
When I’m much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
But I left her when I found her
And now I wish I’d stayed
‘Cause I’m lonely and I’m tired
I’m missing you again, oh no
    Once again

There’s nothing here for me on this barren road
There’s no one here while the city sleeps
And all the shops are closed
Can’t help but think of the times I’ve had with you
Pictures and some memories will have to help me through, oh yeah

Dear God the only thing I ask of you is
To hold her when I’m not around,
When I’m much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
I left her when I found her
And now I wish I’d stayed
‘Cause I’m lonely and I’m tired
I’m missing you again oh no
    Once again

Some search, never finding a way
    Before long, they waste away
I found you, something told me to stay
I gave in, to selfish ways
And how I miss someone to hold
    When hope begins to fade…

A lonely road, crossed another cold state line
Miles away from those I love
    Hope is hard to find

“Farther Along” by Brad Paisley. An oldie but a goodie…

Tempted and tried we’re oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested though in the wrong

    Chorus
Farther along we’ll know all about it
    Farther along we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by

When death has come and taken our loved ones
It leaves our home so lonely and drear
And then do we wonder why others prosper
Living so wicked year after year

    Repeat chorus

When we see Jesus coming in glory
When he comes down from his home in the sky
Then we shall meet him in that bright mansion
We’ll understand it all by and by

    Repeat chorus

Yeah we’ll understand it all by and by
