When you throw a stone in a smooth as glass pond, the ripples keep going and going. Sometimes you can’t see just how far.
Same with a kind act, a smile, or a word of encouragement.
Yesterday, in the sweltering heat, I was struggling the last mile of my training run. Basically, I was questioning my sanity for training for signing up to run Pikes Peak in August.
But then I met this person, a hiker, and he said, “Morning. It’s a great day!”
Those five words pretty much rocked my world. Reminded me that I am lucky to be out there on these trails. Healthy enough to run.
And let me tell you, the rest of that last mile flew by. And the few people I saw out there got a big hello and smile from me.
You just never know who might need a tiny bit of encouragement because you don’t know what’s going on in a person’s life.
