I find that I grow/change the most when facing difficulties. They challenge me to look outside or past myself. 

I don’t always like what I see, which leads me to change. It’s painful sometimes, but my theory is that we need to always have a teachable spirit.

If we think we know it all or have all the answers we stop growing. And usually, life ends up humbling us pretty quick.
