Hills are brutal—but awesome.
As an ultra runner, I meet up with a lot of hills. Some are really rocky, too.
I know I’ll face them in a race, so I have to face them while training. They’re brutal to say the least. But they’re also awesome.
How can something be both brutal and awesome? Let me explain.
Brutal is pretty self-explanatory. Hard. Scary. Difficult. Tiring.
But the awesome part is what makes the tough spots worthwhile. My legs get stronger. The sense of accomplishment is empowering. I get experience which makes me wise during races. I practice balance and concentration.
That’s just the beginning of the list of good stuff that comes from facing off with the tough climbs while out running the trails.
Same with life. Look at those brutal parts as hills in training.
You are strong. You can do it. You are worth it.
