• IWSG

    It’s time for another Insecure Writers Support Group.

    These last few weeks have been very crazy. We’ve had birthdays, a book release, health issues, appointments, NaNoWriMo to name a few. The support of my friends, family, & fans/readers have been overwhelming. You guys completely and totally rock.

    For today’s installment of IWSG I’d like to share a few quotes/sayings that really inspire me. They remind me that I’m not alone. I have support. And when things are rough, I will remain on solid ground through it all.

    “You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.” ~~John Wooden

    “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved.” ~~Helen Keller

    “When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up.”~~Les Brown

    “The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” ~~Matthew 7:25

    I hope some some of these encourage you as they have me!

  • Did I Notice Your Book Blogfest

    First, I just have to say THANK YOU for making my release day celebration yesterday such a fun experience. You guys ROCK. In case you missed it, don’t worry. You can still enter for the KINDLE FIRE! CLICK HERE for deets.

    Today I get to participate in a super fun Did I Notice Your Book blog fest. You know we all like covers, right? Well, this is a blog fest about books/covers that caught our attention.

    So, here’s mine:

    On Demon Wings, by Karina Halle.

    The Blurb:

    When the life you wanted has crumbled beneath your fingers, there’s nothing left to do but pick up the pieces and soldier on. You’ve done this before. But what happens when you no longer feel like yourself anymore? When fires spontaneously start-up around you, when you hear growling coming from underneath your bed, and you no longer recognize your face in the mirror. What happens then? Ghost-hunter Perry Palomino doesn’t have much time to find out. Now, the evil she used to hunt is a lot closer to home. It’s inside of her, taking over her life bit-by-terrifying bit, and there’s only one person who can help her. If part of her doesn’t kill him first.
    ~~~~
    Doesn’t that just sound GREAT? And that cover…whew!! Fore sure caught my attention!
    ~~~~
    Now, let’s see if Karina Halle finds us!
    Check her out on Facebook, too
    Don’t for get to head over to the blog fest host sites: Ciara Knight & Alex Cavanaugh

  • Genre Favorite Blogfest

    Alex is having another super fun blogfest. He has the funnest blog, you MUST check it out!
    And yes, I did say funnest. **LOL** I always think of Legally Blonde when she says “funner!”
    It just makes me smile.
    ~~~~~
    But…I digress.
    This Blogfest is talking about three things I love:
    Books, Music, and Movies!!!
    The only bugger about this is trying to pick a favorite genre of each. LOL!
    So, here’s my attempt.
    [stextbox id=”custom” color=”ffffff” bgcolor=”1033ee”]Favorite Genre of Movie…[/stextbox]
    ACTION.
    I have some classic favorites such as Commando (Yes, I know, it’s cheesy, but I just love it), First Blood, Terminator and then some of the newer ones like Salt, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Thor, Avengers….So, you see my theme, right? Action, Action, Action! It’s such a rush.
    [stextbox id=”custom” color=”ffffff” bgcolor=”1033ee”]Favorite Genre of Music…[/stextbox]
    YIKES!
    This one was hard. I love the hard stuff and pop…80’s music is huge…but I think I’m going to have to choose the hard stuff. Skillet, Red, Decypher Down, P!nk, Seether. . . But there will always be some classic favorites, too, like Mariah Carey (her older stuff), Whitney, Celine…..
    [stextbox id=”custom” color=”ffffff” bgcolor=”1033ee”]Favorite Genre of Books….[/stextbox]
    PARANORMAL!
    Now that one was easy. Love me anything out of the ordinary with a KICK BUTT heroine!
    [stextbox id=”custom” color=”ffffff” bgcolor=”1033ee”]Guilty Pleasure from any of these three categories…[/stextbox]
    I’d have to go with the Gena Showalter Lords of the Underworld series. **whew** That is INTENSE! I’m so ready for the next one to come out. I’ve lost tons of sleep reading these!
    Okay, that was fun!
    ***Care to share any of your FAVES?***
  • Insecurity
    Alex has this monthly gig on his blog called Insecure Writer’s Support Group. It’s pretty awesome. A bunch of writers and authors get their blogs together to keep the encouragement going.
    I’ve got a new release coming out October 15th. And yesterday was my cover reveal. So, I’m feeling all…Will people like it? Will people buy it? Will they throw virtual eggs at my post?
    But I can’t worry about that. I write because I love to. I donate a portion of all my proceeds to cancer research and awareness. And I love to encourage new and upcoming writers and authors. So, no matter if someone does throw an egg my direction, I’m glad to be doing what I’m doing.
    So all you peeps out there striving for a goal, taking steps toward it, stay true to your faith, values, and craft, and you’ll be just fine!
  • Pay It Forward
    Thank you, Alex J Cavanaugh, for putting on this blogfest!
    I LOVE blogging, and I’ve met soooo many wonderful people because of blogging.
    So, when I saw this chance to pay it forward, I was, like, “Count me in!”
    I first started out blogging because I was told it was part of a writer’s platform.
    It QUICKLY morphed into me just wanting to do it to interact with people. Meet people. Find cool blogs to hang out at.
    When I first started on this writing journey, Rachelle Gardner’s blog really rocked my world. Don’t get me wrong, it still does, but it was one of the first ones I found and started following regularly. She was a newer agent back then, but she’s morphed into a force to be reckoned with in the literary world for sure! I loved watching that. She’s so inspiring.
    A second blog I love to follow is Jennifer Daiker’s. She’s freaking hysterical, genuine, transparent, and genuine. Did I mention that one already? Check her blog out, seriously. You won’t be disappointed.
    A third site I follow a bunch–but might not always comment–is Alex’s. Yep. I know he’s the host of this little blogfest, but I still have to mention it. Love the authenticity of the posts, his love of movies, and overall fun nature.
    Now, I follow many, many blogs, so picking three to mention here is difficult. Be sure to check out my sidebar to see more sites I follow fairly regularly. And check out Alex’s post on Pay It Forward to see all the other blogs participating in this little blogfest. It’s wicked-huge!!!!
    Happy Friday, my friends. I’m off to go visit some blogs, now!
