• The Battle of Five Armies

    Normally this isn’t my genre, and I never considered even going to the movies until a dear friend of mine, and professed Hobbit nerd, asked me. She suggested we marathon the first two and then go to the premier of the third.

    At first I was reluctant, because, that’s like a billion hours of hobbits and such…but then I thought, “Hey, I get to hang out with her, so it’ll be fun.”

    photoWe gathered the DVDs of the first two, snacks, and some yummy drinks, then settled in for the marathon. Holy long movies, but they were good.

    We had to makea quick stop at Starbucks for some much needed caffeine, and look what I found –>

    A PERFECT gift for the movie-goer, huh?

    The third movie…WHEW. Talk about battles. Holy how.

    While it was all a little battle focused for me, I enjoyed the story and the characters. The special effects were amazing and so was the music.

    Have you seen all The Hobbit movies? What’d you think?

  • Time for some inspiration…

    I love finding quotes to share with you all. I often post them on my FB page. They just make me smile. And hopefully, they encourage someone. You just never know when someone just needs a kind word.

    So, here are a few more I’ve found…

    1. Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reapbut by the seeds you plant. –Robert Louis Stevenson.

    2.Iskate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been –Wayne Gretzky.

    3. I never think of the future – it comes soon enough. –Albert Einstein.

    4.Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly. –Lanston Hughes.

    Do you have any you’d like to share? What’s your favorite thing to cheer you up? What’s something someone has said or done that has really lightened your spirits?

  • This Writer’s Journey…Devin

    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    DEVIN MOLINAR

    I met Devin through church when she started volunteering in the bookstore where I now work. I’ve gotten even closer to her since she started doing my hair.

    Yep, she’s responsible for the blue streaks.

    Devin is an awesome person. She’s got drive, motivation, and compassion rolled up in a ball of inner and outer beauty. Only eighteen, she has a level of determination I only WISHED I’d had while in high school.

    Watch out world, Devin’s coming, and she’s going to make you a better place!

  • The New Year Approaches…

    Can you believe Christmas is only a week away?

    I’m still getting used to the idea that it’s DECEMBER 2011 already. Soon we’ll be ushering in a new year.

    Are you ready?

    Are you one to make a list of goals?

    I’m usually not, but I have a few things in mind I hope to see happen in 2012. One thing I learned in 2011 is that you can plan, but you never know what life will throw in your face. Thankfully I have a rock-solid faith, rock-solid hubby, and rock-solid friends/family!

  • Pay It Forward

    Thank you, Alex J Cavanaugh, for putting on this blogfest!

    I LOVE blogging, and I’ve met soooo many wonderful people because of blogging.

    So, when I saw this chance to pay it forward, I was, like, “Count me in!”

    I first started out blogging because I was told it was part of a writer’s platform.

    It QUICKLY morphed into me just wanting to do it to interact with people. Meet people. Find cool blogs to hang out at.

    When I first started on this writing journey, Rachelle Gardner’s blog really rocked my world. Don’t get me wrong, it still does, but it was one of the first ones I found and started following regularly. She was a newer agent back then, but she’s morphed into a force to be reckoned with in the literary world for sure! I loved watching that. She’s so inspiring.

    A second blog I love to follow is Jennifer Daiker’s. She’s freaking hysterical, genuine, transparent, and genuine. Did I mention that one already? Check her blog out, seriously. You won’t be disappointed.

    A third site I follow a bunch–but might not always comment–is Alex’s. Yep. I know he’s the host of this little blogfest, but I still have to mention it. Love the authenticity of the posts, his love of movies, and overall fun nature.

    Now, I follow many, many blogs, so picking three to mention here is difficult. Be sure to check out my sidebar to see more sites I follow fairly regularly. And check out Alex’s post on Pay It Forward to see all the other blogs participating in this little blogfest. It’s wicked-huge!!!!

    Happy Friday, my friends. I’m off to go visit some blogs, now!

  • Wasteland Photo Time

    Hey, everyone, we had a BLAST at the book signing yesterday. Took TONS of pictures and I’ll post some later, but here are a few:

    ~~~~~
    But, you know what I want to see?
    Pictures of YOU with WASTELAND! Yep. If you have a copy of Wasteland, whether it be paperback, Kindle, Nook, iPad, whatever….I wanna see you with it!
    So, send me your pictures to [email protected].
    Why? you might ask….
    There are a few reasons.
    1. It’d be FUN! I’d just love to see you with Wasteland. We’ve got to have some fun along this crazy busy journey of life.
    2. It’ll earn you FIFTY entries into the Kindle Giveaway (already have a Kindle? It’s okay, you can get an Amazon gift card instead)…Details HERE.
    3. I want to save them. You only have a debut novel once, and I want to enjoy every single aspect of it. You all have helped make this possible. And yes, ALL of you. When you buy Wasteland, you help. When you tell someone about it, you help. When you post a review somewhere online, you help. So, THANK YOU!
    You have until September 30th to send in your pictures (5pm Pacific time) to earn the extra entries. You can send in a bunch if you like, and I encourage it, but you will only get the fifty entries. By sending me your pictures, you are approving their use on my blog, Facebook, Twitter and other means of promotion for Wasteland. But don’t worry, I won’t do anything wonky with them. It’s all in good fun.
    Here’s one to get you started….
