• New Release

I’m a fan of Kresley Cole’s and I hear she has a new release today:

Poison Princess: Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future-and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

    Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

    Now that sounds AWESOME!

What book are you waiting for?

    My Review:

This is the first of the Immortals after Dark series and the first time I’ve read anything by Kresley Cole. I’d been hearing her name around the “loops” and figured I give her a try. I was impressed with her writing. It drew me in right away. The opening about Lachlain “scenting” his mate was pretty intense. I love the idea of finding a mate, one person for life, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Unfortunately, that means a ton of sex in most romance novels. Kresley’s was no exception. She gets pretty graphic, too. I liked the story behind all the sex, though. The idea that, from way below the surface, he scented out his mate. An instinct tripped deep down in his psyche that someone roaming around up there belonged to him and he to her. That’s the part of the romance genre I really and truly loved.

And then to see how Lachlain helped shape Emmaline into more than she currently was-love it! They both morph into some pretty amazing characters. Specifically, I loved watching how Emmaline bloomed. It was fun to read.

I learned a lot about writing from this book, too. I always try to with anything I read. Kresley’s has a fun, energetic voice, so I’ll probably keep reading her stuff.
