Life and Whatnot

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

This past weekend, the movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” released. It is a remake of the 1951 movie. I can’t say I’ve seen the 1951 version, but I did the new one this weekend.

I usually measure how much I liked a movie by how willing I’d be to buy it when it comes out on DVD. Yeah, this one….not so much.

Dont’ get me wrong, it was good. Just not great. The special effects were awesome, and Keanu did a good job playing an emotionless alien….But Jennifer Connelly and Jaden Smith stole the show, in my opinion.

Wow, that Jaden can act!!!

Here’s the trailer.

Did anyone see it? What’d you think??

    Hmm, looks interesting.
My problem with going to movies is that in addition to the roughly $10 ea for me and my hubby, we also have to pay a babysitter. And if we’re already getting a babysitter we may as well make the most of it and go do dinner, too. So “a movie” for us can easily turn into a $75 or more evening. Needless to say, we don’t see movies really often.

So we’ll probably wait till it gets to the redbox and rent it for a dollar. 🙂

Jaden is Will Smith’s son. He was in Pursuit of Happiness with Will Smith. Great actor. I don’t regret paying the $9.50 for the ticket, but the movie wasn’t spectacular…but good. Vague enough for you? LOL

Yeah, Keanu can’t be charged with overacting, for sure. He’s good in this movie because the part is emotionless…so he does well with it:-) Piont Break…yeah, saw that.

Denver is assaulting me with its cold weather…snow on Saturday…so I get to dig out my snow driving skills again. Grrrrrr. I miss the desert.

Who is this Jaden? I will have to check him out. You won’t buy it, Lynn, but do recommend seeing it in the theater? I don’t know if I can handle emotionless Keanu playing some emotionless alien. JK, it’s just you can never accuse Keanu of overacting. . .Did you see him in Point Break? Old movie but I love that movie! He reminds of Justin Long in that – Hope Denver is treating you well!

I don’t get to many movies these days, so I’m not ikely to see it any time soon. But you’re right about Jaden. He really impressed me in The Pursuit of Happiness. Blessings!

I’d like to see it, but maybe not enough to shell out $8.50. I’m kind of a cheapskate, but movie ticket prices are becoming ridiculous! I have to really, really want to see something before I open up the old wallet. Your opinion has made up my mind.
