Have you ever sat and reminisced about what was popular when you were a kid? Well…. “Then and Now” Thursdays is right up your alley.

Ha!  Do you remember these?  And they looked pretty good on Tom Cruise back then, didn’t they?  Admit it, you had a pair of these, didn’t you?

I had a pair that were WAY too big for my face. Dark black.  Oh, I thought I was the coolest chick out there.

OH yeah, they are still pretty big. And … yes, they cover most of my face.  BUT, they look way cooler, wouldn’t you say?

So, does this bring back any memories?

I had a pair of Wayfarers back in the late ’80s. And you know what? I looked EXACTLY like Sonny Crockett.

  2. Susan says:

One of our ministers is known for retro clothes but especially eyeglass frames. So coooool! When feeling nostalgic, I just go to playlist, put on some Glen Miller, BeachBoys, Diana Ross and the Supremes — oh am I dating myself(LOL)

  3. Rosslyn says:

I just love huge sunglasses like the ones in the second picture, especially the 60’s-style movie-star type.

  4. Kat says:

I DID have a pair of the Tom Cruise Risky Business sunglasses. I left them on the dashboard of my Mustang on a hot summer day (hmmmm, summer, I miss that so much) right after I started driving and the lenses melted into little black potato-chip looking curlies.

Does anyone remember the Lavar Burton’s (Jordi LaForge) Star Trek glasses? The first time I saw them I thought he had a banana clip over his eyes.

Or how about the glasses worn by Max Headroom? The ones with the lines through them?

I won a pair of those from a county fair when I was in grade school.

  5. Lynn Rush says:

LOL. Great comments you guys. This is so funny…..Kat, you crack me up….”little black potato-chip looking curlies” I can Totally picture that…..

Oh yeah, Max Headroom…I remember those glasses. I used to think it was so “futuristic” ***LOL***

  6. Avily says:

I was never into sunglasses. I’m mostly just cheap- more than $5 is splurging for me.

My sister, on the other hand, looks AWESOME in the vintage cat-eye shaped plastic things with the rhinestones on the sides. Tons of fun.

  7. Lynn Rush says:

Avily. I hear ya. those nice fashion ones that our out these days (listen to me, I sound OLD)…they just don’t look good on me….I don’t ahve the right clothes to go with them. LOL
