THEN AND NOW THURSDAYS

Have you ever sat and reminisced about what was popular when you were a kid? Well….”Then and Now” Thursdays is right up your alley.

.

Do you remember Big League Chew?

.

Now, if you know anything about me or have read much of my blog, you’ll know that I’m a bit of a sports junky. Raised in an athletic family, I was a tom-boy to the core. Well…I remember when a little thing called Big League Chew came out.

When I found the picture of the package online, it time warped me back to my little league years. My mouth brimming with those pink, skinny strands of sugar goodness. Spitting on the dugout floor like I was the long lost daughter of George Brett.

Did you know that it was created by Portland Mavericks left-handed pitcher Rob Nelson back in 1980? I was looking into it and found out that he pitched (ha, nice play on words–leave it to Wikpedia) as an alternative to the chewing tobacco.

It was awesome back then, so I’m not surprised Big League Chew is still popular today. Heck, I might even run out and get some tonight just so I can take a stroll down memory lane.

*******

So…any fun memories you want to share?

Hey there, Lynn Rush, aka Sheri Boeyink! I met you at the WoW meeting at Marie Callendar’s. And I just found you through Camy Tang’s Story Sensei blog – it was my first visit to her blog and I went to leave a comment, and there you were, right above me, so I thought I’d stop by and say HI!

Yep, I remember Big League Chew – it does sound good right about now… As a true 80’s girl, the thing I remember (and secretly miss) the most is… BIG HAIR! Actually, I don’t really miss it, but it was really easy to do. Blessings!

Isn’t it fun to think back to all that stuff? Leg warmers. OMG, I ’bout died when I saw those comin’ back. LOL.

I was never much of a Barbie girl, but I had a couple…..

George Brett? Wow! There’s a name I haven’t heard in ages.

I was more of a Barbie girl when I was young. Remember Pink and Pretty Barbie? Or how about Twirly Curls Barbie?

Or, here’s one from the Barbie knock-offs that I truly loved: Jem. She was truly outrageous, and the cartoon rocked!

    Fun blog today!

Wow, where to start! All the time I see or hear something that reminds me of “back in the day.” Like when they start recycling fashion. Leggings are back in now. I remember wearing leggings all the time! And leg warmers- who decided that was a good idea to bring back!? I’ll try to think of some other stuff for next week.
