I am more than what happened to me.
We’ve all faced painful situations. Once we’ve been marked by something horrible, it’s difficult to get out from its shadow.
The shadow feels long, like it’s everywhere. And cold, too. No sunshine ever finding it’s way in there.
But that’s not true. You are not what happened to you. You are strong. You are capable.
I’ve seen people come out from some of the darkest places, which included holding blades to skin, wanting to die. It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t painless, but they made it. They crawled out of the darkness and into the light.
You are more than your pain. You are more than what happened to you.
You are strong.
