Throwback Thursday

Hey, do you remember New Coke?

It came out in 1985–for some ODD reason–and pretty much fell flat.

Did you like it?

I don’t remember the difference too much, but what I do remember is that nobody liked it.

Really, really didn’t like it . . .

They even had to go back and re-brand original Coke, which marked the birth of Coca-Cola Classic was born.

Remember that?

~~~
Well, you can imagine my delight when I saw the ads for Pepsi Throwback.
Okay, you know I had to post about it just because the word Throwback is on the label. . . . . but still.
I just wonder. . . will it be received as well as the New Coke was back in the 80s?
I guess time will tell.
    New Coke tasted flat, like when the soda has lost its fizz. It was awful. Pepsi Throwback is not the same thing. It is how Pepsi was made prior to 1971. Pepsi Throwback has sugar, not High Fructose Corn Syrup. Heritage Dr Pepper is the same as Pepsi Throwback—sugar, not HFCS.
    Kat–the old Diet Dr. Pepper changed? HUH, I’m clueless. Not a huge fan of that soda, but I like the cherry dr. pepper. . . 🙂
    KM–Oh yes, Dt. Coke is your brand. . . I remember our writing weekend. I knew another person who had Coke memorabilia in the kitchen like you said. I’d do that too….but with Pepsi. 🙂
    Danica–Yeah, I was like, “Hmm…not much difference.” with the Pepsi Throwback. . . but then what do I know, right?
    Liza–Yeah, bringing back memories is what Throwback Thursdays is about. Some say I live in the past. . . . . LOL
    My family talked about this the other day while eating dinner. I don’t remember what started the conversation, probably the Pepsi thing. None of us could understand why a company would change something when its product has served them so well for so long.
    The old formula for Diet Dr. Pepper, however…thank goodness someone changed that. The stuff that came in those silver cans with the blue cross stitch pattern was just awful. 😛
    I have blurry memories of the new coke. Was it really that bad?
    Coke is my brand. . .Love it. Even had a kitchen once decorated completely in Coke memorabilia.
    I don’t remember the new coke, I’m sure I had it at some point, but maybe it was so bad I blocked it from my memory? The Throwback Pepsi got a lot of attention from my brother and his girlfriend. They were ecstatic to get it. I’m not a Pepsi drinker, so not even going to try it, lol.
    I remember new coke. Then I went to classic coke. I’ve gone back and forth. I like the lighter sodas. Man, this brings back memories.
