    I’m a big fan of love and romance.

    Heck, I write about–well, romance with a kick of paranormal–but still…

    Since it was Valentine’s Day a couple of days ago, I want to keep the love theme going.

    So, for those of you who are engaged or married, tell us your story. How did you get engaged?

    Happy Monday, everyone.

    I’ve played this song on Musical Monday before, but I just had to bring it up again because it holds a special meaning to me.

    My hubby, Charlie, proposed to me fourteen years ago on Valentine’s Day. And we all know yesterday was Valentine’s Day. So, I had to dig out this song.

    Fourteen years ago, Anytime You Need a Friend, was my favorite song.

    Back then, we were living in Iowa City, IA, going to grad school. It was Valentine’s Day, and Charlie had a big test the next day, so he was stuck studying. But he said he’d stop by my place on a study break to see me.

    He came over to my little apartment and put this song in the CD player, then asked me to dance.

    Yep, couldn’t have been a more romantic Valentine’s Day as far as I was concerned.

    Oh wait, yes it could. . . he dropped to one knee, held up the ring and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.To make it even more special, the diamond, is his mother’s engagement diamond! (They just celebrated 42 years of marriage last year!)

    Anyway, of course I squealed and said yes and the rest is history.

    My favorite words from this song are: “I will love you endlessly,” which pretty much sum things up for us.

    What’s your fondest Valentine’s Day memory?

    Celebrate Marriage Week continues with Friday Funnies.

    Okay, I found this on You Tube…and while I am not a huge fan of the song…it’s all in good fun, right? Gotta give them credit for their creativity.

  • Marriage Trivia–Celebrate Marriage Week

    Heart and RING

    ~~~
    Okay, so anyone who has followed the Light of Truth blog for any amount of time knows I’m into movies, music, and trivia-along with writing and exercise-so you can’t be surprised I’d find some trivia/fun stuff about marriage during our Celebrate Marriage Week, right?
    Give these a shot:
    1. What’s the average age a man or woman gets married?
    2. The first toast at a wedding should be to whom?
    3. June has traditionally been called “The Marriage Month” during the Middle Ages. Why?
    4. Okay, this isn’t trivia, but more of a challenge: Off the top of your head, how many movies about marriage can you list?
    **Okay, give it a guess, I’ll post the answers to the trivia later today**
  • The Anniversary–Celebrate Marriage Week
    The Anniversary Escape.
    Well, my sweet hubby outdid himself this anniversary. Thirteen years of marriage is nothing to blink an eye at these days, so we celebrated big. Well, big by our standards, anyway.
    He swept me away to Camelback Inn for a fantastic weekend getaway. It included beautiful sites:
    The View from the Spa
    Trip to the Spa
    The lap pool
    Oh, and not to mention fun street names
    And a fantastic meal from Houston‘s
    It was fun getting away from the hustle and bustle of a normal day to celebrate the covenant we’d made to one another thirteen years ago.
    It’s amazing how the years have zoomed by, but I am looking forward to each and every year the good Lord allows us to have together moving forward.
