CHRISTMAS

How was your Christmas?

Did you do anything fun? Memorable? Start a new tradition? See family or friends?

Christmas at the Lynn Rush household was quiet, which is exactly how I like it. You may have heard me talk about the mega church we belong to. Membership is up to about 12,000 people. So, you can imagine it was pretty crazy around the holiday, right?

They had several services, so we went to the one on Tuesday, the day before Christmas Eve. It was fairly small..only about 2,000 people versus a packed house of over 3,000. It was a great service.

We started a new tradition. My sweet hubby came up with a great idea. On Christmas Eve we went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Admit it, you can’t beat CHEESECAKE for a Christmas Eve treat, right? Then, after eating our scrumptious dinner, we drove around the area with a little stack of $20 bills and handed them out to people. Just random people sitting at bus stops or people tuck working Christmas Eve, things like that.

We got some strange looks, but then some really appreciative looks. It was such a great experience. We decided to do that every year.

We ended the night with a drive through the neighborhood looking at Christmas Lights. The next morning we made strawberry crepes and sugar cookies.

Here are some pictures:

Great idea! My father-in-law spent Christmas in the hospital so it wasn’t the same for us this year. I think it’s the first time I was glad to see the holiday come and go. And I’ve never been a scrooge. I love Christmas!

I know, I’m the luckiest dog owner in the world to have two dogs that actually sit and stay long enough for pictures. They are adorable.

We actually got the idea of $20 bills from a church service. BUT, they were talking about how a family, after they got out of debt (mortgage and everything) were able to bless people by handing out $100 bills. Well….we’re not there yet….so we’re starting small. We figured any amount could be some level of blessing.

Sounds like lots of family time so far for you guys. That’s awesome!

Herky and Maddux are unbelievably good dogs to sit so still for their picture.

We had a calm Christmas with my husband’s parents. My favorite moment was probably when my five-year-old daughter came back from her first look at the tree/stockings/presents on Christmas morning. She said: “No one got coal!”

What a cool Christmas! Bless you and your husband for your generosity and keeping the true meaning of the season in mind.

Now. You have to tell me. How did you get your kids to sit so nice for that photo?

I spent Christmas with my family — Mom, Pop, sisters, husband, bro-in-law, nieces, nephews, kids — it was a crazy fun time. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

Awww. How sweet Lynn! What a thoughtful idea, giving out twenty dollar bills! I’m sure you made a lasting impression on a lot of people.

My parents came in from MI to spend Christmas Eve with us. It was a 14 hour drive so naturally, they were ready to crash when they got here. Although, we did get to sit and catch up for a while.

    Happy New Year!
