Life and Whatnot

DO YOU KNOW YOUR MOVIES?

I’m a self-proclaimed movie buff…I used to collect them, actually. That is, until I started my writing journey. Now I collect books. But, that having been said, I still like a good movie, and even more, good movie trivia!

So, do you know the answers?

1) What is the longest movie ever made?

2) What was the first movie by Pixar to receive a rating higher than G in the United States?

3.) What actor played the school principal in E.T., only to have his scene cut when Spielberg decided that his presence would be too distracting?

Know any tricky trivia you want to try out on us?

Bring it…

I’ll post the answers to mine later today, and if you leave a trivia question in the comments for us to try, be sure to come back with the answer at the end of the day, ok?

Kat—Oh, I agree….it’s very romantic. Maybe not the MOST in my opinion, but VERY VERY close!

    JC—Ahhhhh, I wouldn’t have gotten that!

Tracy—You’ll have to come by on a trivia day again and leave a stumper for us….JC did it. I couldn’t answer that. I mean, I could have had I gone on line, but what’s the fun in that, right? **SMILE**

I’ll be back later with MY answers……

You know, you always stump me w/ your trivia! And I have no idea on any of these! I know besides Titanic, Gone w/ the Wind & the LOTR movies, Schindlers List was really long. Hmmm…

As Kat noted, Captain Von Trapp is played by Christopher Plummer….who also plays King Herod in Jesus of Nazareth, who watches Salmoe dance and then kills John the Baptist.

ALOT of names were in Jesus of Nazareth, the old guy / helicopter mechanic in the show Airwolf was the Centurian, and many others. Does anyone else remember Airwolf? With Michael Jan Vincent. I used to kiss the tv screen if he was on and my mother wasn’t looking. I was five.

  • Kat

Oh, Capt. Von Trapp — Christopher Plummer. *sigh*

I know it’s so corny, but THe Sound of Music is one of the most romantic movies I’ve ever seen.

  • Lynn Rush

Ohhhh, JC. Good trivia…..hmmmm, I don’t know the answer…you got me. **smile** Be sure to come back and give us the answer tonight or I might bust a brain fiber trying to figure it out. Oh, and I’m already bugging Billy (see his comment) by asking things he doesn’t know the answer to….LOL Now I know how he feels. **wink**

That’s funny — i didn’t know that about paxton or viggo.

My guess would be fiddler on the roof or sound of music.

Speaking of sound of music — here’s my trivia? The actor who played Captain Von Trapp also starred as what character in Jesus of Nazareth (the 6-hour mini-seires)?

BTW – LOVE the new blog design!

  • Lynn Rush

Kat, you know what’s funny? I see a lot of now famous actors showing up in movies…Like Bill Paxton in The Terminator (he plays one of the punks the Terminator comes across early in the movie). Also, Bill Paxon showed up in Commando..you know when Arnold and his “friend” were flying to the island to blow it to pieces? He’s telling them to land…restricted flying zone. So, did Arnold get Bill’s career going or what?? LOL

Bill–guess you’ll have to come back later to see the answers **smile**

Longest movie ever made. It had to be that mini-series, “The Winds of War.” I swear my dad watched it for three straight weeks when I was little. 🙂

If you’re talking about a theater movie, I would have to guess Reds or Return of the King.

The other I have no idea what the answers would be.

But here’s something that shocked me: After the late-1980s, early-1990s westerns Young Guns and Young Guns II came out, I was a huge fan. I knew both movies had a star-studded cast with Emilio Estevez, Keifer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Philips, Christian Slater….But I didn’t realize until watching a recent rerun of Young Guns II that William Peterson (Grissom from CSI) played Pat Garrett and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from LOTR) played in it as well.

Janelle—Oh man, I LOVED the ULTIMATE GIFT!!!! That movie was so great. I think I even did a review of it on my blog….way long time ago. I love those transformation movies! Ghost in the Darkness, that’s the one with the lions right? I liked it, too. Michael Douglas, right?

  • Janelle

I’m terrible with this stuff too! But I’m interested in the answers. I love movies it’s just not stuff I remember. By the way, my new favorite movie is “The Ultimate Gift” and one of my all-time favs is The Ghost and the Darkness.

  • Belinda

I don’t know any of the answers!! I’m terrible at movie trivia. The only thing I remember was that Titantic was a really long movie. Other than that I have no idea. I’m interested to see the answer of the principal in the ET movie. I”ll check back later tonight to find the answer.
