FRIDAY FUNNIES

Friday Funnies is a chance to share your wild and crazy stories. Whether it’s a personal story or just something that strikes you as funny. Let’s laugh and have some fun, but keep it clean, cuz I’m a watchin’ **wink wink**

You may remember the story I shared about my talking in my sleep about a chocolate camera? Well, I’ve been known to walk in my sleep as well as talk. Boy, I think I’ve scared my family a few times, but here’s one of them.

Up north visiting my Grandma, I had a tendency to get over tired playing outside all day long with the neighborhood kids. Well, one night, I was especially tired, I guess. At least, that’s why my grandma explained my antics.

My grandma’s house was the second house from the end. My friend Joey lived in the end house. The other side of grandma’s house was occupied by the Johnson’s. They had older kids, so I didn’t bother them too much, for the most part.

One night, I dreamt that I was next door at Joey’s house knocking on his front door to ask him out to play. Now, in my dream it was light out, so maybe mid-day? And it was hot if I remember correctly as well.

Joey didn’t answer. So, with slouched shoulders, I moped back home trying to figure out what I could do to entertain myself.

The next thing I know, I’m standing in the cold, muddy flowerbed, in front of Mr. Johnson’s picture window. But it was NO DREAM, I was really doing it. It was dark, cold, and drafty. I looked down and I’m in my nightgown. I scan the area and see that it’s quiet and I’m alone.

Not a good feeling.

The front porch light clicked on and Mr. Johnson asks, “Who’s out there?”

“It’s me.”

His wife leads me into their house and they call my grandma. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson walked me next door to my grandma’s house. By then I was fairly awake, but still very confused.

The next morning Joey said that they had heard someone pounding on their front door in the middle of the night but didn’t dare answer it. So, my grandma guessed that on my way home I accidentally walked passed our house to Mr. Johnson’s house.

From that night forward, grandma and grandpa put knives in door frame way up out of my reach so I couldn’t pull the door open.

I can laugh now, but WOW, how scary is that to be roaming around a town in the middle of the night in a nightgown? Jeepers.

Rosslyn & Billy, those are funny.

Billy, PLAY ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS….Holy crud, man!! Yes, I guess it WAS a good thing you couldn’t get the door unlocked. Jeepers.

I used to walk in my sleep as a kid a lot, too. One night my mom found me fiddling with the front door at two in the morning. She asked me what I was doing, and I told her I was going to play on the railroad tracks.

I was always glad I couldn’t get that door unlocked. Sheesh.

OK, here’s a funny story my dad brought up over the holidays.

Once, when I was about 13, we were driving through Texas on some family trip. I was watching the roadside signs, including the produce vendors who sold things like “Fresh Strawberries” or “Green Beans.”

One of the produce vendors had a sidn advertising “Green Peanuts.” Next to the sign were green oval objects that were enormous–the size of two bowling balls stuck together. I could not believe my eyes! “Wow!” I shouted to my family. “Look at those giant green peanuts!”

My dad burst out laughing. The produce vendor probably did have green peanuts somewhere, but he also sold watermelons. 🙂

OMG, Kat. SLEEP is sooooo weird. I used to suffer from Night Terrors as well. It’s wicked what the mind can do while it’s sleeping. Right backatchya on the Have a Great 2009!! Pressing on!

Oh my gosh! My nephew used to walk/talk in his sleep. During the summer time when I was in high school, I lived with my sister and her husband and worked as a nanny for their three sons.

One night I came home late after going out with my friends, and I found him running down the stairs, crying and hysterical. When I asked him what was wrong, he told me his older brother was trying to beat him up and was calling him names (they were 7 and 8). The house was dark and, like I said, it was late. Knowing my nephew’s habit of walking/talking in his sleep, I took his hand and convinced him to go upstairs with me. We found his older brother fast asleep in his own bed.

I eventually woke him up enough to realize he had been dreaming.

    🙂

Hope you have a great 2009!
