Life and Whatnot

Iron sharpens iron

Hey everyone. Hope your Wednesday is treating you well so far.

So, this morning, before I get on my road bike to pound out a few miles, I was reading Proverbs. One of my favorite verses was in the section I read this morning: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17.

Well, this morning I was on a 20 mile ride with my hubby. Now, just a little background on my hubby, Charlie– he’s in training for a triathlon and biking is his strongest category. So, when I bike with him, I’m holding on for dear life in his draft. This morning was nothing new, EXCEPT for the fact that I really, really, really wanted to quit a couple times.

I’m like “I can’t do it, my legs burn, this sucks.”

Then, the verse “Iron sharpens iron” came raging back at my doubt. Yeah, well, Charlie does sharpen me. Being married 12 years, we’ve seen each other at our best and our worst. He challenges me physically with the sporting events we do, but he also challenges me to grow in my faith as well.

We ride early enough to watch the sun rise, so with that beauty, along with the company, it turned out to be a pretty fantastic morning. Great way to start the day, wouldn’t you say?

Have a great one. Oh, and say thank you to the the person who “sharpens” you.
