ONE MONTH TO LIVE

WOW–ever sit and think about that? I mean really think about that?

My church just finished a month long series on this very topic. It moved me in a way that was unexpected. They started out with the typical fashion of asking random people on the street what they would do if they had only a month to live. Many answers were: Skydive, be with my family more, etc.

The series challenged me to think about those things, sure, but also, my faith. Would I share my faith more? Tell more people about heaven or hell? Would there be things I wish I would have done? Like forgive someone I’ve been holding a grudge against? Contact an old friend that I’ve let slip away? Things like that.

They also followed the life of someone who was given only a month to live (terminal cancer) and how she viewed it. She was a single mother of two young children. It was so very moving.

So…what would YOU DO if you had only a month to live?

Thanks for visiting, Amy! Yeah, it’s a tough question. It was a very thought provoking series at church. What’s your blog site? I’d love to see what projects you’re working on fellow adventure/SF writer!! 🙂

Hi Sheri, I’m a fellow ACFW-er, found your comment on Krista’s blog and thought I’d say hi.

This is a thought-provoking question! It feels like we have limitless time, and keep pushing the important things off until the decks are cleared. Hmm, I’m going to reflect on this for awhile.

Hope the writing’s going well! I write adventure/SF also. Take care.

It’s like Randy Pausch, the professor who discovered he had cancer and did The Last Lecture. How sad….
I think the first thing I would do is let go of the old grudges to which I might be clinging. Second, I would go visit my grandmother. I don’t know why . . .I just would.

I’d play Bratz more often with my kids, listen to my headphones, walk every day around the arboretum in our park while meditating (I do that anyway, but I enjoy it), snuggle with my hubby and eat lots of pizza and chocolate.
