• Fast Five….

    I LOVE The Rock.

    Seriously.

    No really. I’m not kidding.

I get laughed at because I like him, but I do.

And I didn’t even know he was in FAST FIVE when I started watching it. Yeah, I hadn’t read anything on the movie other than Alex Cavanaugh mentioned it on his blog a while back and mentioned it was worth watching.

I liked the first two movies, butI’d quit watching after that. Now I have to go back and check out what led up to FAST FIVE, but boy, I was glad I watched this one.

    YUM!

    IMDB Synopsis

Dominic and his crew find themselves on the wrong side of the law once again as they try to switch lanes between a ruthless drug lord and a relentless federal agent.

    MY THOUGHTS

    YUM. Did I mention that?

Okay, once I got through the “huh?” factor because I didn’t watch a couple of the previous movies, I fell in love. No, actually, when I saw The Rock step on screen…just kidding (mostly).

The action was fantastic. Great effects. I never got too bored. The romance was just enough. There were a couple racing scenes that had the bare-butt girls flaunting their cellulite-free fannies, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be so that’s good.

Now, I love Vin Diesel, too. He made a few flop movies after the first Fast and Furious, but PITCH BLACK and Chronicles of Riddick are really what made me love him. I was glad to see him back and all buffed out. Woot!

    Synopsis from IMDB

An ex-con sets out to avenge his brother’s death after they were double-crossed during a heist years ago. During his campaign, however, he’s tracked by a veteran cop and an egocentric hit man.

    My Review

This movie surprised me. I mean, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson is the star. Movies like, The Scorpion King, Doom, & Walking Tall, came to mind, but Faster wasn’t like them.

Now, don’t get me wrong, he’s an action star for sure, but with Gridiron Gang and Game Plan, he kinda started showing a little potential.

Okay, not a ton, but Faster surprised me. I expected it to be a rough blow ’em up and shoot ’em down type of movie.

It was, but the surprising part…the story had some depth!

    Yep, I said it. Depth.

Yeah, the whole revenge theme–not so great, but I’m not gonna touch on that here. I just enjoyed the complicated, tortured character.

Johnson did a great job portraying that, too. And boy, did he BULK up for this movie, too. He’d gotten a little thin, in my opinion, for a few of his other roles, but not this one. He had some serious guns–well, I guess I should say arms, because he totes quite a few guns in this movie.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. I love action movies and this one had its fill. It was dark, too. The desire for revenge dragged him into a big, dark hole, that was evident. But the fact that this one had a little depth to it as well was an added bonus.

    So, here’s my rating:

4 tickets – See it and share it with a few friends
