    Alice in the Wonderland:

I did not see Alice in Wonderland in 3D like some people did, so maybe that makes a difference, but I did not like it at all.

Me and my friend Natalie went to the midnight showing because I thought it will be so good, but the commercials were the best parts of the movie.

    It put me to sleep.

I know the first one was a cartoon, and maybe they should have stuck with that one, because sometimes you just ruin the overall opinion of the movie by creating the 2nd one.

I definitely liked the cartoon better.

We all know that Johnny Depp can play any role, and he is great at it, but I don’t think he was at his best in this movie.

When I was watching, he reminded me of Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean (it’s like he was in the same character).

I wasn’t sure what message I was supposed to take away from the movie, and it was too long.

I don’t even know if I can think of one positive thing–okay–there were some funny parts but not a lot of them.

Maybe I did not like it that much because I went to see that movie with such high expectations.

    Movie Synopsis from IMBD:

It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

    Marina’s Review:

Going to watch that movie, I was expecting it was going to be very scary based on the previews, but it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be.

    It’s a mystery.

Although it was not what I was expecting, I still loved it. It was nice to go to a movie without really being able to predict what was going to happen like every other scary movie.

From my point of view the movie has a great plot. You might think you know what is going on and what is going to happen next, but you have absolutely no idea until the end of the movie. It might make you angry because it did not end the way you wish it would but that is what I like about it.

The movie plays with your mind. Nothing is as it seems!!

I woud see it again because the second time around I would notice all the clues the viewers were given but did not notice because we were distracted by what was going on.

    AH I love it!!

My best friend’s daughter, Marina, loves movies.

I always saw her posts on Facebook about the movies she’d seen, so I thought it might be a good idea to bring her movie-reviewing talents to the Light of Truth blog.

So, welcome to Marina’s Movie Madness. She’ll be here every other Wednesday talking about what she’s watching.

    UP IN THE AIR:

It is an Oscar nominated movie but that was not the reason why I decided to see it. I thought it would be a romance movie with a happy ending. It definitely was not what I was expecting it would be.

I thought it was a very very depressing movie. Sending a lot of mixed messages. Like I could not understand if the movie was showing that a person can lead a happy life without a significant other or life is much more happier with one.

This movie did show the hardships of everyday life people and how it is difficult to live in this world without a good income. It shows that money is everything as well as it is not everything.

I guess each to its own.

I must say that I did love the performance of Anna Kendrick (who played a role in Twilight), she was quiet funny. I thought she brought comedy and some excitement to the movie.
