• The Avengers…

    Before I chat up all things Avengers…I just have to say a big THANK YOU for those who turned up at the book signing yesterday at Changing Hands. And THANK YOU to Changing Hands! What a great event.

    ~~~~~
    Earlier this week, I shared with you how cancer has touched my life yet again (CLICK HERE) for the post. Well, that whole process has been overwhelming and saddening. So, at the request of my sweet hubby, he said we should go see Avengers to kind of escape everything, relax for a while, and just…”be”.
    He was so right.
    Not only was AVENGERS totally awesome like I’d been hearing, it really revived me by providing a great escape. I just love that about books and movies. That’s probably why I gravitate toward the paranormal and fantasy type books/movies!
    I’d have to say my favorite characters were Iron Man and Hulk. Loved Scarlett as the Black Widow, too. Wow. She’s wicked strong. I so want her to play one of my characters in a movie version of my books. 🙂
    I loved the constant action in this movie. The special effects were amazing and boy, the characters had some depth!! Joss Wheden is the BOMB. I seriously saw his humor in this. Great stuff.
    Hey, Joss, if any of my books ever become movies, want to come write my screenplays?
    Okay, this week we didn’t venture into the movie theaters. Instead, we watched Shutter Island. Have you seen it?
    IMDB summary of the movie:
    Drama set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.
    My Review:
    Wow. I watched this one a while ago and when I started thinking about it again for review here, I have to admit that it was well done. It’s still not one I’d run out and buy to watch over and over again, which is how I kind of “unofficially” rate my movies (Buyable or not. . .)
    I’m not a fan of the campy 1950’s, funky accent, detective stuff, but it really was done well. Great acting. Great suspense. Wicked-strong premise. Gotta give credit where credit is due. It was nicely done.
    At the end, it left me wondering, guessing, as to what really happened, which is okay. Not my favorite, but it led to some fun discussions.
    I give it THREE MOVIE TICKETS:
    Did you guys see it? What do you think really happened, considering how they left it at the end?
  • Marina’s Movie Madness
    Marina’s Movie Madness
    Marina came to America from Pskov, Russia when she was 13 1/2 years old. She’s in her second year of school at Paradise Valley Community College with hopes of becoming a Pediatrician Practitioner.
    Besides her obsession with movies, she enjoys spending her time with her best friends and family.
    Movie Synopsis from IMBD:
    It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.
    Marina’s Review:
    Going to watch that movie, I was expecting it was going to be very scary based on the previews, but it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be.
    It’s a mystery.
    Although it was not what I was expecting, I still loved it. It was nice to go to a movie without really being able to predict what was going to happen like every other scary movie.
    From my point of view the movie has a great plot. You might think you know what is going on and what is going to happen next, but you have absolutely no idea until the end of the movie. It might make you angry because it did not end the way you wish it would but that is what I like about it.
    The movie plays with your mind. Nothing is as it seems!!
    I woud see it again because the second time around I would notice all the clues the viewers were given but did not notice because we were distracted by what was going on.
    AH I love it!!
