• This Writer’s Journey…

    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    Ann Miller

    I first met Ann when I joined CWOW. It was the local chapter of the national group American Christian Fiction Writers.

    We started swapping chapters for critique, and I immediately fell in love with her writing. So smooth and engaging. Her characters were flawed and broken, yet endearing. I learned so much from her.

    Every writer needs a cheerleader, and let me tell you, she’s a great encourager.

    One thing that really stands out about Ann is her faith in God and compassion for people. She’s an amazing person and I’m glad to have met her!

  • Movie Quotes–superhero style

    So, I went to see Thor (see yesterday’s post for the review)–I figured I’d try the superhero theme for movie quotes today.

    That’s all the hint you’re going to get.

    ~~~~~
    1. What I do now, I do for the sake of the people of Earth. But there is one man on this planet who will NEVER kneel before you.
    2. Never rub another man’s rhubarb.
    3. We’re going to have to watch that temper of yours.
    4. I can handle this ship. I can even handle Mr. Blonde Ambition. But I don’t know if I should be flying or doing Swan Lake in these suits.
    Leave your guesses in the comments. You got a quote to share? Put it in the comments, we’ll take a guess.
  • Movie Quotes…
    Since capturing the #1 enemy (who I will not give the honor of naming here, but you know who I mean) I wanted to do quotes from military movies today!! Now, these movies may not have military or war as the sole focus, but in some way they are connected to something military.
    Is that vague enough for ya? *grin*
    Anyway, good luck. Leave your guesses in the comments. If you want to try and stump me with a quote, leave one in the comments and I’ll take a stab at it. 🙂
    1. When I want your opinion, I’ll give it to ya.
    2. You don’t need a patch on your arm to have honor.
    3. What I mean by that, sir, is if you was to put me and this here sniper rifle anywhere up to and including one mile from Adolf Hitler… with a clean line of sight… Pack your bags, fellas. War’s over. Amen.
    4. No matter where you are in the world, the moon is never bigger than your thumb.
  • Throwback Thursday…Little House
    I’m throwing you way back to the 30s, 70s, and 80s on this one.
    Confused?
    Yeah, well….I tend to do that to people sometimes.
    Little House on the Prairie. A classic, right?
    It started with the books back in the 30s.
    Then with the TV series that went from the mid-70s to the early 80s.
    I used to watch this show all the time. My fave being Laura. She was awesome. Those buck teeth….
    LOL!
    Who was your fave?
    Avily Jerome
    ~~~~

    I met Avily early on in my writing career. Back when I had that 87,000-word novel, my first, and I didn’t know what to do with it, I joined this local writing group. Didn’t know anyone and was scared beyond belief to go there alone, but I braved it. Within a few months in strolls Avily, full of life, super-friendly, and welcoming.

    Her love of life radiates from her.

    Both starting out in the industry around the same time, we learned a lot together. We even attended our first writing conference together. It was a crazy, scary, exciting adventure, and I was glad to Avily with me.

    Thanks, Avily. I’m so glad to have met you along my journey!!

  • Movie Quotes…Total randomness

    I’m all over the board today with the quotes. Some are scary, some are old, some….well you get my drift.

    Have fun. If you dare, leave a quote in the comments and let’s see if I can guess it….

    ~~~
    ~~~

    1. No. That is incidental. What is the first and principal thing he does? What needs does he serve by killing?

    2. And you wouldn’t be so brave if you’d ever smelled the Bog of Eternal Stench. It’s, it’s…

    3. Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him.

    4. And the tiny hairs on your arm, you know when they stand up? That’s them. When they get mad… it gets cold.

    Leave your guesses in the comments. I’ll be back later with the answers!
