• Candy Hangover? #TheRunningWriter

    Happy November, my friends. Anyone suffering from a candy hangover?

    I’m looking forward to a great month. Getting back on the trails after foot surgery, enjoying the cooler weather, and writing more.

    I got the all clear from Doc to start biking, and while I’m not a huge fan of the stationary bike, I was all like, “YES! I’ll take it.”

    It’s amazing what you appreciate after some forced down time. What you take for granted. Sure makes you rethink things.

    Here’s to a great November, everyone. A month filled with positivity, strength and adventure.

    What goals do you have in mind?

  • Thank you

    You Can Do It

    HUGE thank you to my sweet hubby who coached me Couch To Marathon.

    Another HUGE thank you to the team of doctors who fixed me up so carefully. It was a tough case and they took such great care of me.

    Recovery was long and difficult, but having a goal to keep focused on helped!!

    Thanks for your support!!

  • This Writer’s Journey . . .

    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    KM Wilsher.

    I wasn’t really sure how to start this segment ofThis Writer’s Journey because I couldn’t figure out what to mention about how she inspires me since she inspires me in so many ways. But here’s my feeble attempt. . .

    We met at a local critique group about seven or eight months into my writing journey if I remember correctly. She sat near me and another one of my friends in the group.

    And we clicked.

    There really isn’t another way to describe it.

    She writes fantasy (check out her blog: HERE), and I don’t really read a ton of fantasy, but we decided to start swapping chapters.

    She’s got such an elegant style of writing. Her characters are endearing. The worlds she creates are intriguing and beautiful. There’s a bit of her heart and soul in every single word she writes.

    KM has a strength about her, too. She hasn’t had the easiest life. All that she endured during her years of addictionand breaking free from it shaped her into a fabulous, loving, and self-less woman. Her smile brightens my day and inspires me to continue on even when the path to publication seems too tough to navigate.

    Thank you, KM.

  • Musical Monday

    What do you think of Alecia Beth Moore?

    You might not recognize that name because she’s better known as Pink.

    Now, you might know, if you follow my Muscial Mondays much, that I like a wide variety of music and musicians for that matter. When some people find out I like Pink, they arch an eyebrow at me and say,

    YOU like Pink?”

    Yeah, they pretty much do the same when they find out I have a couple tattoos as well.

    It makes me chuckle.

    Believe it or not, I have Eminem in my iTunes play list as well. I’m a firm believer that you can find great messages in all different types of music AND people.

    You may know that I have my masters degree in Mental Health Therapy and once was an Addictions Therapist. So, maybe it was just the title of the song, Sober, that drew me in because of my history with addictions, but whatever the reason, I’m glad.

    Many of her songs, no matter how controversial they may be, always challenge me. I hope you take the time to read the lyrics and/or listen to them on the video, because they blew me away.

    Specifically the following phrases:

    How do I feel this good sober?

    And

    The quiet scares me ’cause it screams the truth

    ~~~
    I know what those lyrics mean to me . . . which I’ll share another time, but what do they mean to you?
