• T is for Taylor Swift

I’m not a huge country fan, but sometimes I need to venture over into that world for a minute.

    Check this out:

Such a neat story. Most of her music is pretty encouraging along with her videos. This one just made me smile.

    Happy Monday, my friends!!!!

  • Musical Monday

    I’m going country today!

It’s not my favorite kind of music, but Tim McGraw has a few songs I like. He can get pretty twangy, yes, but boy, this song, Live Like You Were Dying, really rocked my world. I’d heard the song before and even have put it up here once, I think. But, for some reason, while I was looking through songs for Musical Monday, this one clicked with me.

Live Like You Were Dying, by Tim McGraw

The following lyrics really stuck out:

    Loved Deeper

    Spoke Sweeter

    Gave forgiveness I been denying

Someday I hope you get the chanceto live like you were dying

    Do you like Tim McGraw?

He seems to be a class act –hey wasn’t I just saying that about last week’s Musical Monday pick (Taylor Swift)?

What is it about those country stars?

    Happy Monday, everyone.

I thought this cute song would be a fun way to start the week.

Boy, her music just makes me smile.

She’s got a great voice, her songs are fun and up beat, but most of all, she just seems like she’s a class act. You know?

Sure, she’s young, but she’s done so much! CLICK HERE for her bio, it’s pretty impressive. If she’s not a model for inspiration and dedication, I’m not sure who would be.

Hope you all had a GREAT weekend! Thanks for stoppin’ by!

This video just makes me smile. Taylor Swift is a pretty good singer, huh?

I had this song playing a BUNCH while writing Charged and Absolute Zero (sequel to Frostbite).

Do you have any favorite songs that inspire you while you write? Which ones? Do you get more inspired by the words? Or the music?

I love the words, actually. Sure, the music has to be a little catchy as well, but if the words inspire me, that really gets me in the writing mood.

  • Musical Monday: Frostbite Week

HI! My name is Amanda Smith. Lynn Rush wrote about me in one of her novels called, Frostbite. She asked if I was interested in hosting her blog for a week, and I ’bout fell over I was so excited.

I told her she was due for a teenager’s viewpoint on her blog. And since music is what she talks about on Mondays, I picked out a sweet song.

You Belong with Me, by Taylor Swift.

So, why’d I pick this song, you ask?

Well, these lyrics pretty much tell it the story:

“But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts, She’s cheer captain, and I’m on the bleachers.”

Yeah, when Zach-I mean THE Zach freaking Landry-started talking to me in detention one day, then asked me out (well, it was more of a bribe, more details on that later this week—maybe) I fell into the whole No-Way-He-Could-Like-A-Girl-Like-Me attitude.

    Seriously.

Captain of the football team, track star, and all around hottie liking me? A plain-Jane, dish-water blonde, wardrobe challenged girl like me?

Well, and the fact that I can shoot ice from my fingers and lift a car over my head didn’t help things either.

So, I guess that’s why I like this song.
