• Inhale…

    ~~~
    Hi, everyone. David here. So far I have not let my demon out and broken this frustrating computer. I know I must learn how to function in this 21st century, but it has proven difficult having been in isolation for 245 years.
    So, when Lynn’s friend, Kendall, asked her if I would do an interview over on her blog, I adamantly refused. I have work to do, finding my Mark, fifteen-year-old Jessica Hanks (do you know her?) If I fail to locate her, I will be forced back into isolation for another two centuries. That, I cannot allow.
    But Lynn can be persuasive, so I agreed. Please come over to Just Breathe and see what trouble I might get myself into as I talk with Gavin, the person Kendall wrote about in her novel, Inhale.
    You will earn FIVE entries into the drawing for leaving a comment on her blog post.
  • The Story
    ~~~

    David here again. I have got Lynn here with me today, telling me the story of how she came to sign with Crescent Moon Press. . .

    Lynn: Hey, David. How are you doing with the whole technology thing here on the blog?

    David: Testing the limits of my demon’s patience…but my human half is having fun meeting everyone.

    Lynn: Yeah, I think I see your nails darkening a little there, should I be worried?

    David: No. I’m okay…for now. So, tell me how you were able to get Wasteland sold.

    Lynn: Remember back in February when I told you I was going to pitch the book on SavvyAuthors.com? Well, it was then I was able to talk with CMP co-owner, Marlene, about your story. She liked it and asked for the first few chapters and a synopsis.

    David: I do remember that.

    Lynn: Well, just over two weeks later, CMP co-owner, Stephanie, emailed me asking for the full manuscript. I got the manuscript emailed to her by five o’clock my time and the next morning, I got up and checked my messages, and I had an email offering a contract.

    David: The next day?

    Lynn: I know, right? I was so shocked. She later told me she stayed up super late reading it because she liked it so much.

    David: Wow. She liked my story. That is hard to believe.

    Lynn: Hey, now. Watch those nails, buddy! If you nick me with one of those bad bears who’s gonna write book two?

    David: Good point. You better go. I am tired. Have only been out of sensory depravation for a short time. My control is not so good.

    Lynn: I’ll stop by again and tell you more later, then. See ya.

  • Celebrate Good Times. . .

    Time to celebrate!

    Hi, everyone. David Sadler here. Lynn wrote about my life in her novel, Wasteland. As you might have heard, our story is going to be published!

    Now, I know I just got out of 245 years of sensory depravation, and my ears are sensitive to sounds, but I think I heard her celebrating all the way up north here.

    I cannot blame her, really. I am still in shock someone would want to read about my unique existence. It is not every day I hear about someone’s mother signing her child’s soul over to the devil, condemning him to a life of evil.

    But then again, I have been away for a long time, what do I know? I can barely figure out this device called a cellular phone, and it has taken me two days to figure out what a blog is, let alone how to-what do you call it?-post an entry…

    To celebrate this momentous occasion I am going to host a contest this week and give some fun things away. I won’t reveal the prizes, though, until the end of the week. They could range from books, to gift cards, to . . . well-I will surprise you.

    You will have chances all week to enter the drawing. For today, you can gain TWO entries by:

    1) leaving a comment here on this blog post.

    2) leaving a comment on my Wasteland page (CLICK HERE)

    Stay tuned…tomorrow I will give you a chance to earn THREE entries.

  • This Writer’s Journey . . .

    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    ~~~~~~~~
    Frank Redman
    I met Frank at the ACFW conference in September of 2009. I’m not exactly sure how we connected at the conference, only that we did. He’s a sweet guy with a wicked-funny sense of humor. The conference, for the most part, was a blur, considering it was my first national writing conference, but I walked away with some great connections.
    And Frank is one of them.
    He’s a constant encouragement, and for those of you who are writers reading this, that’s way important. It’s a tough road writing for publication, so it’s nice to find those who are available for a supportive ear that only other writers can lend.
    Because face it, we’re weird. Takes a special type to understand how our freakishly weird minds work!
    Anyway. Frank was instrumental in helping me connect with and find my agent. His support and encouragement helped me land at Tribe and for that, I’m forever grateful.
    Thanks, Frank. I’m glad to know you. You’re such a gracious, godly man and a great example of what a friend is.
  • Top Five. . .
    We’re halfway through. It’s been fun looking at the big things that have happened in our lives over the past year. Thanks for sharing yours with me. You guys ROCK.
    Number THREE:
    I got an agent!
    <———-NO, not THAT kind of agent.
    A literary agent!———————————->
    You might remember the post (THE CALL) detailing the fun, crazy, and exciting time I had last January that led to signing with Cari Foulk at Tribe Literary Agency.
    *whew* That was very exciting.
    The road to publication is a bit curvy, hilly, but for the most part, really awesome. I’m having a blast, and I’m glad Cari’s along for the ride!
    So, what’s your number THREE?
    Cari Foulk is my agent.
    Okay, so, I signed with her nearly a year ago, but that’s still WAY cool to say. It’s surreal. I mean, less than three years ago, I never even dreamed I’d be a writer, let alone one represented by an agent.
    Like I’ve said a zillion times, this path to publication is an adventure, and I’m really thankful to have Cari walking beside me.
    To have someone who is invested in my writing enough to take on the challenge of getting it published is so comforting. Even more, the fact that she’s in it for the long haul, with all my novels, puts me at ease as well.
    I’ve met some awesome writers who are represented by Tribe Literary Agency, and we lovingly call one another Tribesters. We hang out on Facebook and Twitter a lot, bantering, talking writing, and encouraging one another.
    Cari has fostered a Tribe, that’s for sure.
    I love her wicked-sharp sense of humor, wit and dedication. Thanks, Cari, for all you do!
