• Weekend Reading. . .

    A couple weeks ago, I entered a contest offered by @MeganRecords, editor at Kensington Publishing. The prize…a copy of the books she’s edited over the previous four years!

    I got my prize this week. Check it out:

    A box full of books! What a dream!

    HOLY COW! Look at all that reading I get to do! And my To Be Read list is already a mile long.

    I must resist diving right in, though, until I finish editing Portal to Aeon. Once that’s done,I can get lost in a few books.

    Thanks, Megan. This is a great prize!

    Happy Weekending, everyone!

  • Comfort . . .

    My BFF sent this email to me the other day, and in light of the recent cancer diagnosis my mother in law received, it really fits where I’m at these days….

    ~~~
    A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard. During the night the folks came across this scene. An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night.
    We should all have the good sense of this dog and curl up in Jesus’ lap from time to time.
  • Run, Lynn, run. . .
    I love Facebook and Twitter.You guys are all so encouraging.
    I set a goal of running a 10-mile race (Aflac Iron Girl) a while back and slowly worked my way up to running 10 miles.
    The race was this past weekend, and it was awesome. Even more awesome was the support and encouragement my fellow Facebook, Twitter, and blogging friends offered. One of my friends posted, Run, Lynn, run!!! Forrest Gump immediately came to mind. LOL. No way could I run across the country, though.
    Anyway. . .
    I thought I’d share a little bit about the day with you all since many of you were a part of the day, whether you knew it or not.
    Me and my BFF, Michele, at the start of the race.
    Me at the completion of the first lap....only 5 more miles to go. YIKES
    ~~~

    Here I am racing toward the finish line. Crowds are cheering. It was great.

    Me and Michele at the end with our finisher medals.

    ~~~
    Me & Charlie at the finish. He found me after I finished, ran up and yanked me into the bestest HUG ever! I'm so blessed by him!!
    ~~~

    Wow. It was such a great day. Sunny, warm, and surrounded by tons of encouraging and supportive people. The theme of the race was, “RACE WITH GRACE” and let me tell you, they did. That’s why I love this Aflac Iron Girl race. They have them in lots of states. You should check it out.

    Thanks for sharing this great day with me, everyone. If I can do it, so can you!

  • Catch the Rush in Tempe, AZ

    This weekend is THE weekend!!

    Months of running and training…and I still don’t look like this:

    As a matter of fact. I look more like this:

    But that’s okay, because I’m gonna have a BLAST at theAflac Iron Girl 10-mile run Sunday. My BFF, Michele, is running the 5k race and gonna cheer me on as I attempt to finish–hopefully not last–the 10 mile run. Nothing like 2,000 chicks getting together and doing a little exercise. This’ll be the third year I do this run–it’s just so fun.

    So, if you’re in the Tempe, AZ area Sunday, stop on by.

  • The Men in My Life. . .

    There are two very important men in my life. First, my hubby, Charlie. The second, my dad, Don.

    This past week I got to spend some AWESOME time with both of them.

    It started with an impromptu visit to Sedona to hang out with my dad. We went running through the red rocks of Sedona.

    I’m so blessed to be able to run shoulder-to-shoulder with my dad. If you don’t remember, he’s the one who did the 3,100 mile bike ride across the country , so you can guess where I inherited the genes for extreme/endurance sports.

    But hey, I’m not complaining. He’s been such a fantastic influence on me. He taught me focus and determination.

    ~~~~
    The week ended with my sweet hubby having a couple days off from work, so I got to spend tons of time with him.
    We started off with a thirty-milebike ride, then spent time downtown where I got to eat some SWEET yogurt from MOJOs.
    We sauntered around Borders and Barnes & Noble (two of my favorite places), hung out with some friends, then rounded off the weekend by watching movies and eating junk food.
    All that time with the two men in my life got me thinking.
    I’m really blessed.
    They’ve supported me and encouraged me to follow my passion of writing. For that, I’m forever grateful.
    So, who are the special people in your life who give you unconditional love and support?
