This Writer’s Journey . . .
I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!
Okay, now I know you might be thinking, how can she be on This Writer’s Journey when she’s your mother in law? Well, along with Michele Trent, Lynn got me started on this journey as well.
She writes, not officially, as in published, but she writes. And from the heart, too. She wrote the reading at my wedding. She’s working on her autobiography now. Her story is a touching one that spans all emotions including recovery from addiction to now struggling with cancer.
Lynn’s been with me since day one, cheering me on. I chose my name, Lynn, because it’s her first name. She was the first person to ever read anything of mine.
Yep, the rough, horrible, head-hopping mess I called Light of Truth.
It was my first book, and yes, it was horribly written. I had no clue what I was doing. But, Lynn agreed to read it. Though very raw, she still managed to find some positive things buried beneath the mess of words and encouraged me to keep on going.
To keep learning the craft.
When I found out Wasteland was going to be published, besides my sweet hubby, she was the next person I wanted to tell. When she was diagnosed with cancer back on November 26th, 2010, I really hoped I’d get published soon so she could see her name in print. Next to God and Charlie, she’ll be on the acknowledgement page for sure!
Once all the ink was dry, and I was able to track her down, I got to live out one of my dreams-I got to tell her Wasteland was going to be published and that her name, Lynn, would be in print.
It was the best phone call I got to make. Ever!
After we hung up and my tears dried up, I just looked upward and smiled at God.
Gotta love His timing. Even though it might not matchmy timing in every circumstance, His always works out for the best.
So, thank you, Lynn-who I lovingly call Mom II-for being there through all of this. I’m so glad to have your love and support. You’re an inspiration to me and to all those you touch.

For the contest that’s been going on all weekend to celebrate the publishing contract for Wasteland, today is the last day you can enter. So, for today, you’ll get FIVE entries for leaving a comment here.
I’ll cut off the entries at Midnight Pacific time and announce the winner tomorrow, so be sure to come back to see if you’re one of the winners. Yesterday I disclosed the prizes David had chosen (click here for details.)
Thanks again for celebrating with me, everyone. This journey to publication has been fun, exciting, and a bit scary.
And it’s just beginning.

Happy Friday, everyone!

You have a great blog, a sweetie for a honey, and an amazing sounding momII. It sounds like you were quite blessed before the book deal, but still congratulations on that. It is huge. Enjoy it. And good luck with the next.

It made her day. She’d been down with bilateral pneumonia for nine days in the hospital, too. She’d been out only a week or so when I got the news. God’s timing….it never fails!
